ANTIQUE EARLY FABRICS HAND MADE CACTUS BASKET QUILT NR! Description : We have lots of fabulous items to share with you this week as we all begin our Holiday shopping in earnest. What a fabulous, antique, Cactus Basket hand made quilt with wonderful, early fabrics and a homespun, plaid backing! All cotton, this lovely quilt is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted. Backing is a wonderful green, blue, yellow and tan homespun plaid and this has been brought forward to the front of the quilt and hand stitched for the binding. There is a heavy weight, cotton batting and hand quilting is done at 4 stitches per inch in a Baptist Fan pattern. Quilt measures 72" x 71" and is in really wonderful condition for the age. I would estimate this quilt is in the neighborhood of 100 years old and the only problems I can find to report are some mellowing to the colors from use through the years, a couple of light spots (I've pictured one to give you an idea) and few nickle or smaller size holes on the backing that do not go through to the front. There are some wonderful, early fabrics used here including indigos, plaids, shirting fabricsc, calicos, etc. This quilt would look fantstic in a primitive or a country setting!
