This charming set of four antique pictures are in very good condition! The three-dimensional figures are carved from French Ivory, Icoryl to be exact. This is an early imitation ivory that is made from celluloid and ivory powder. It has the look of real ivory. The figures are mounted on a brown velvet background and framed in wood gilt frames. The back where it is sealed/framed, is made from pages of a French book. Each picture measures 6 1/2" tall by 4 5/8" across. The carved figures include a man getting his boots cleaned, a lady with bonnets perched on a cane, a street musician with his monkey and a man at a desk with a lady standing by him. All of the figures are dressed as if in Colonial times, possibly Georgian? On the bottom of each figure, they are signed, "Francois Noe." There are brass rings on the backs for hanging. Each ring has a tag attached. On one side of the tag it is signed, "Francois Noe," and the other is signed, "ICORYL (poudre d'ivoire 56%)."
